Christiane, daughter of Professor Genessier, a famous scientist specialising in human tissue grafts, has disappeared from her father's clinic where she was being treated after being disfigured in a car accident. The police fish out a body from the Seine, which Genessier identifies as that of his daughter. But he is lying.
